Castagneto Carducci

The community of Castagneto Carducci lies over a wide area and includes the 4 villages of Marina di Castagneto Carducci, Donoratico, Bolghehri and Castagneto Carducci itself. It stretches from the green hills inland covered with the well tended vine yards, olive groves and dense pine woods, down to the extensive plains that reach the sea in the east.

The town Castagneto Carducci is slightly further back inland, and winds its way with its narrow roads around the numerous Tuscan mountains and hills; it can be reached by a long windy road.

The area around Castagneto Carducci – especially the region of Bolgheri – is known world wide for its Cabernet wines, Sassicaia and Ornellaia, is today also a centre for  tourism with a special mixture of exclusivity and simple farming tradition.

The opportunities of nearly untouched nature and the chance to observe the way of life of the locals make this area unique.

Marina di Castagneto is directly on the coast and especially in the cooler evening hours the target of many Italian and foreign guests. Not only the regular concerts, open air cinema and other cultural events attract visitors in the summer months. Also the amusement park for children up to 12 years, roller skating rink and several trampolines enlarge the attractiveness of this village.

Another large attraction are the many restaurants, pubs and cafés, to a large extent also on the water’s edge, e.g. “Il Poeta” for a wonderful evening meal, or the more rustical “La Zattera” for a glass of wine with a view over the sea. On the road along the beach, there are small stalls with Italian goods and arts and crafts in the evenings. In the day time the wide beach that reaches for miles with its clear water invites you to a refreshing swim.
